49ers’ Kyle Juszczyk Fined $14,926 for ‘Chugging Beer’ Celebration — But He Says He Doesn’t Even Drink Beer
The NFL fined San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk $14,926 for what the league classified as an “offensive demonstration” during Sunday’s 35–13 win over the Miami Dolphins.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the league’s fine letter stated that Juszczyk’s “imitation of chugging a beer” could reasonably be considered in poor taste.
The celebration came after Juszczyk caught a six-yard touchdown pass from Brock Purdy in the third quarter, extending San Francisco’s lead to 28–6.
But there’s a twist.
Juszczyk has been performing the same chugging-style celebration throughout his NFL career as an ode to his nickname, “Juice.” This is the first time he has been fined for the celebration, according to Schefter.
And Juszczyk insists the NFL has the wrong beverage.
“And I don’t even drink beer!” he texted Schefter.
Juszczyk has already appealed the fine.
He also reacted to the news on social media with a simple message:
“Can’t make this stuff up…”
